Vintage Mushroom Study Model showing the growth stages of Tylopilus felleus, commonly known as the bitter bolete. Tylopilus felleus has been the subject of research into bioactive compounds that have been tested for antitumor and antibiotic properties. Although not poisonous, it is generally considered inedible due to its overwhelming bitterness. This study stands 12cms tall and is beautifully presented on a circular hard wood base. A very striking study – see other items for more examples shown in the last pic.
