Vintage Cased Contact Lens

Description

Great set of 1940s Contact Lenses complete with original case. These large hard lenses were called haptic or Scleral lenses because they rested only on the sclera or white outer portion of the eye. As you can imagine they were very uncomfortable and limited the supply of oxygen to the cornea and so could not be worn for any great length of time. This set still has a very workable rubber applicator which is quite rare as these are normally hard and unusable. Case measures approx. 8 x 5cms.
