All three rare inner ear bones. The Ossicles are, in order from the eardrum to the inner ear (from superficial to deep), the Malleus, Incus, and Stapes. The terms mean hammer, anvil, and stirrup. They are the three smallest bones in the human body contained within the middle ear space to transmit sounds from the air to the fluid-filled labyrinth (cochlea). The absence of the Ossicles would cause moderate-to-severe deafness. These bones are extremely small and are often lost due to their small size. Childs prosthetic ear & Rubber Annie are pictured to show scale.
