This is an amazing life size Italian Anatomical Skull model from the late 19th century. Made entirely of wax it is impressive in its representation and fine detail. Towards the end of the 17th century a collaboration between Gaetano Giulio Zumbo, a Sicilian wax artist, and the French surgeon Guillaume Desnoues resulted in the creation of the first realistic anatomical models made from coloured wax, representing a valid alternative to dissected human specimens. I have owned this skull for many years and it comes complete with a bespoke turned wooden stand. These models are often only seen in museums so this is a rare opportunity to own something quite special and extremely sought after. A must have addition to any serious collector of skulls or anatomy models. I am offering this for sale in the UK only due to its delicate nature. It will be sent via Special next day delivery and packed well.
