At Skinner & Hyde we tend to get attached to certain items …Martha is one of them.
We found Martha, a Genuine Tussaud’s half body (of whom exactly, remains a mystery) and knew she was for us. We paid more to have her shipped to us than what she actually cost. We also felt obligated to buy the chair she was sitting on in case it was dear to her…. She now sits on her re-upholstered chair, looking pristine in her new tweed skirt and polished shoes.
Have a look at her pictures below to see how she was when we got her.
Her quirky part time role is to display our business cards outside the marquee at local antiques fairs, but her main role in life is to offer a generous discount each week on the item of her choice!
Martha when she arrived at Skinner & Hyde…
"It is said that Tussauds sitting figures are the most difficult. When they’re seated, it is very tricky to see how parts of the body are shaped when touching the chair!" - Tussauds Modeller
