Virtually every known medical condition in the bygone era were treated with bloodletting methods & was used to treat anything from anemia to madness. Wet cupping involved slicing the patient with a scarificator & placing the cup over the wound as a receptacle for the blood. There was also dry cupping, a technique to create suction in the cup placed over the skin often using a wad of burning material, this would draw any evils to the surface.
