Superb and rare mount of a Black Rat also known as a Ship Rat [RATTUS RATTUS]. The base measures 18 x 11cms and the rat stands 11 cms high. It has a superb thick long tail which as in Black rats is longer than its body. Black rats were rampant in Medieval times and it has been hypothesized that the displacement of black rats by brown rats led to the decline of bubonic plague in the 19th century. A fascinating specimen with a touch of macabre history. Price includes delivery within the UK.
